Missing In Action

I didn't go to this game because I decided to go play at UCLA instead. I played for 3 hours. I heard we won by forfeit. Great decision here by me.

Bad Beat
June 23th, 2008, 9:00 PM PST @ Pan Pacific Park
I didn't have any confidence in my pitching for this game because I was hella sore from playing dodgeball and tossing the football all day on Saturday. At one point, I threw 8 consecutive balls in the 3rd inning.
So I let Kendy take over in the 4th inning and he walked 4 straight batters to start the inning and I came back in. I did okay from hereon except for the fact that I made two huge errors in the sixth and final inning. Not clutch. Bad loss.
Game notes: We had a 14 year old playing catcher for us. The other team had 3 girls batting for them. I'm in love with their second baseman/right fielder hah.

Hitmen bats came alive for the first time in a long time in the top of the 7th inning. We posted a fat 11-spot, running away with an easy win. Sam pitched solid as usual and we win for the first time in 3 seasons. Bye bye losing streak.

LegalZoom ballers smashed the first place LA Suns on Wednesday night. We killed them from the get-go. The final score doesnt say it but we were up by 24 points at one point in the 2nd half. We used a 12-0 run to start the 2nd half. The score at halftime was 25-18

Eating Losses
June 6th, 2008, 9:00 PM PST @ Joe Rodgers Field
Hitmen lost a close one 12-11 to drop to 0-1-1 on the season. We haven't won a game in like 10 years. Streak continues.

June 7th, 2008, 9:00 AM PST @ Best Fit Gym
Crookedstraight was eliminated in a nail biter. This game was close all the way from start to finish. We trailed by 7 points with about 5 minutes left in the game until I hit a couple 3's in a row plus a and-1 layup sparking a comeback. We actually took the lead and were up 5 with under a minute left but I donked off 2 free throws near the end and they somehow tied it to send it to overtime.
In overtime, we won the jumpball and scratched first on a jumper by Tuan to take a 2 point lead. On their first possession, they missed a corner 3 pointer but got the offensive rebound putback plus one when I fell down and got up and fouled the guy. He made the free throw. Kevin hit a leaning jumper on our next possession putting us up by 1 point again. We then got a defensive stop and then they had to foul us. Kev hit both free throws to put us up by 3 with 8 seconds left. We had 2 fouls to give so we gave one in the backcourt, leaving them with 7 seconds left. After a deflection, they had possession with 4 seconds left on the baseline and managed to hit a game-tying 3 pointer. That guy that made it hadn't shot a 3 pointer the entire season (so he said after the game). He also made the sudden-death layup in double overtime to send us packing.

I arrived at this game late (there was 8:24 left on the clock left in the 1st quarter). The other team was credited with 6 free points (you get 3 free points for every minute that ticks off if the other team doesnt have at least 4 players present at start of gametime). They got 8 more technical free throws because Manny couldn't make the game and he has our jerseys. Usually one of us would go to his house and pick up the jerseys but he gave us a late notice and forgot to leave the jerseys outside. Solid stuff.
As for the game, we dominated the first half with a random pick up off some team named Top Guns. That foo was balling for us. We led by 3 points at halftime. The second half was a different story. One of Tom's callups showed up and he took over for the Top Gun dude. He wasn't as good and was a definite factor in killing our flow. We lost by like 9 or something.
Terrible weekend.

Still the Team to Beat

We're too damn good. Big white Brian beasted for the second consecutive game. I'd have to say his line was somewhere on the lines of 18 points, 8 rebounds, 4 blocks, 3assists. Pretty solid.
My first game back (after missing a couple weeks) for LegalZoom wasn't too bad either. An effortless 20 points. My guy Marlon added a fat 30 including seven 3-pointers and Larry dropped 15 dimes. Edgar chipped in with a small double-double. We're just too damn good.
The second rematch of last year's finals wasn't even close. We made the Bulls looks average, leading by as much as 22 points and eventually winning 93-83. Good game Bulls, the 90's over. It's Lakers vs Celtics now. GO LAKERS!

Crookedstraight was down by 12 points at halftime due to a barrage of three-pointers by the Ninjas. After we switched on defense from 2-3 to 3-2, we went on a big run in the 2nd half, eventually, taking the lead. We were up by 4 points with 5 minutes left but we couldn't hold it. The refs missed some calls and we kinda lost our cool a little bit again.
It was CrookedStraight's fourth consecutive lost. We're not necessarily steam-rolling into the playoffs here but I still think we can win it all.
We're in the playoffs! Solid.
