Doubleheader # 4

June 27th, 2007, 6:00 PM PST

LegalZoomA (2-1), playing without their best player (best player in the league) showed their extended depth and talent (though we played with no bench) by ripping LegalZoomB (0-3) Wednesday night by twenty-six points, 75-49.

GAMENOTE: My boy Kevin exploded for twenty points in the second half alone in rout to winning his lunch bet against a player-to-be-named-later. The over/under was eighteen points.

Also, Mr. Adrian Magniza placed a lunch bet against me that he will score over twenty-points in yesterday's game. Adrian's confidence was riding high after scoring 31 points in his only game this season two weeks ago. His line last night: 9 points, 2 for 13 shooting. LOCKDOWN! CPK BABY! =)

And for the record, I put up 19 points on 7 for 9 from the field including three 3's. Solid.

Finally, one last note. Props to Withers, the best center ever! Nickname: THE QUIET BEAST!

June 27th, 2007, 7:30 PM PST

Dominick (7-3) scored five runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to steal a win from the new-uni's LegalZoom (3-6) team, 8-11.

I walked in the go-ahead run in the 6th inning. Tough loss. Three walks in the inning, three walks in the game. CHOKER!

Batted: 2 for 2 with a walk.

Jail Bail

June 22th, 2007, 9:00 PM PST

The Hitmen (3-1) win in four innings, pounding the Chico's Bail Bonds (3-1), 19-4. A big eleven-run 4th inning by the Hitmen seeled the deal.

Chico's Bail Bonds suffer their first defeat of the season. The Hitmen have won three straight games after opening the season with a forfeit.

Batted: 2 for 2, 2 singles.

Basketball: Bye Week.

Doubleheader # 3

June 20th, 2007, 6:00 PM PST

LegalZoomA (1-1) blew a fourteen point lead with just a little over twelve minutes remaining to last year's runner-up Big Shotz (1-1), falling 77-72 Wednesday night. WHATEVER.

June 20th, 2007, 9:00 PM PST

LegalZoom (3-5) was shut-out for the first time this season against the division-leading Pig 'N Whistle (8-1) team. Final: 18-0 in five innings. TERRIBLE!

Batted: 0 for 2. That's more outs than the first seven games combined!

Lost

June 17th, 2007, 8:00 AM PST

Fifth-seeded LBC’s (0-1) committed at least twenty turnovers in a losing effort to the fourth-seeded 3-D (1-0) squad 71-76. Sunday's opening-round playoff lost has dropped LBC to the loser's bracket.

South Bay basketball league playoff is double elimination. It is win-or-go-home from hereon out!

Note: I did not participate in Friday's softball game (due to Dodgers/Angels game). The basketball loss is the first loss since blog-start! MAN!

Final Score: Hitmen (2-1) 24, Coyotes (1-2) 13.

Doubleheader # 2

June 13th, 2007, 6:00 PM PST

LegalZoomA’s (1-0) quest for another perfect season officially kicked off Wednesday night against the Cannon Balls (0-1). It was another dominating performance as LegalZoomA led from start to finish on their way to an 84-59 victory.

June 13th, 2007, 7:30 PM PST

LegalZoom (3-4) extended their season-best winning streak to two games last night with a 14-10 win over the winless Yin Yangs (0-7). The win was LegalZoom’s third in four games. The team has been playing pretty well after an 0-3 start.

GAMENOTES: Team Manager went 3 for 3. Now batting 22 for 23 on the season (that’s a .957 clip)!

Two Solid Wins

June 8th, 2007, 6:30 PM PST

Friday night's softball game between the Hitmen (1-1) and the Sluppers (0-2) was a good one. As the road team, the Hitmen (our team!) scored three runs in the top of the first inning to take an early 3-0 lead. However, the Sluppers put up a nine-spot in the bottom half of the inning and were looking good to get their first win of the season. They were close.

Fast-forwarding to the seventh and final inning: down by three runs, the Hitmen batted around (including two clutch base-hits and one big error by a Slupper) and scratched for five runs to take a two-run lead. In the bottom of the seventh inning, the first batter for the Sluppers flied out to right-center on the first pitch. The second one hit a solo-blast to dead-center to make it a one-run game. Batter number three reached base on an error and batter number four singled to left.

The final batter was the fifth hitter of the inning. With runners on first and second, a full-count pitch was a slow grounder to the shortstop. Mr. Shortstop fields the ball cleanly, flips the ball to Mr. Second Baseman, “Out,” and the turn to first is not in time! At the same time, the runner (who was at second base) is rounding third base trying to score! Mr. First Baseman sees the runner flying down the line to tie the game. He fires a bullet to Mr. Catcher. The throw is perfect and the catch is caught. A head-first slide. OUT! BALLGAME! 15-14.

June 10th, 2007, 1:00 PM PST

The tenth and final game on Sunday for LBC’s (5-5) basketball season was against the defending division and league champions, Lights Out (8-2). The game came down to the final minutes of the game.

Down by nine points with just a little over five minutes remaining, substitution time. EXIT: Tom. ENTER: Viet. A three-point jumper by LBC's Mr. Big James cut the deficit to six. On the ensuing possession, a turn around baby-left hook. Money. 4-point game. The next possession down: a double team on James, he hits a slashing guard for an easy-layup. 2-point game. Lights Out scored on their next possession to put it back up to four. Tweety (our shooting guard) pulls up for a three-ball in the open court...SPLASH! One-point game. Lights Out hit a couple free throws to go up by three. Another jumper by Tweety brings LBC back within two. They score again on a couple free throws. Down by four. Jibri's (game-MVP) scores a layup with an and-one. One point game. Another stop and another jumper by Tweety gives LBC a one-point lead. Lights Out hit two more free throws to go up by one. Then Mr. Jibri gets another layup, plus one with :30 seconds left to put LBC up two. Lights Out failed to convert on their last possession. Gameover, 76-71.

With the lost, Lights Out finished in second place for the division crown.

Doubleheader # 1

June 6th, 2007, 6:00 PM PST

LegalZoomA's title defense began with a pre-season game against the rival LegalZoomB's basketball team on Wednesday night. The defending champs cruised to an easy double-digit win. Last night was nothing different. TeamA was good and TeamB was not.

As general manager of both company’s basketball teams, Mr. GM's duty was to split up the talent after what happened last season: one team was winless, lost by twenty on a regular basis, losing against teams with four players, while the other team (the one that I am on!) went undefeated, won by twenty almost every single game and took home the title in a great championship game comeback! Holler!

June 6th, 2007, 9:00 PM PST

LegalZoom’s (2-4) softball team exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the third inning on their way to a 10-7 victory over the first place Dominick’s (5-2).

Game Notes: Team manager broke his streak of perfection on his last at-bat of the night popping out to the pitcher. "I'll trade the busted streak for a win anyday." The pop-out ended a streak of 19 consecutive hits to start the season. Granted there were at least two errors during the streak that is not factored in but it is an incredible feat nonetheless, considering he reached base 20 consecutive times without making an out (19 for 19 with a walk to start the season, currently has a batting average of .950). SOLID!
